WHS officer On the road OTR safety

About the Role We’re looking for a talented OTR Safety WHS officer to join our team. You’ll be passionate about partnering with the business to ensure WHS risks are managed. This is a brand new role and we expect you to continue to drive our Amazon WHS culture with the site leaders and be instrumental in embedding Amazon WHS policies and processes and ensuring compliance with all applicable local legislative obligations. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens you will lead continuous improvement to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our Associates. A successful OTR Safety WHS officer will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. The officer must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train Operations Leaders in Amazon WHS policies and assist the operations site teams in incorporating our safety standards at their site. When working with Operations you will identify best practices, incorporate standard methodologies, and continuously improve the occupational health and safety landscape. You will possess excellent safety program knowledge and be able to demonstrate this expertise when working with Operations. Key Responsibilities Provide WHS support to AMZLTrans sites and On the Road teams within the UAE region to execute company policies and ensure compliance with all applicable local and regional regulations. Perform frequent vehicle safety audits to identify all non‑compliance equipment and/or processes at the site and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury at delivery stations and On the Road. Audit record‑keeping practices and Global Safety Database (Austin) entries to align with global safety standards and local regulations. Ensure AMZLTrans sites and On the Road teams are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy; audit the quality of delivery (including trainer qualifications) and effectiveness of all required training. Act as the WHS POC for WW Safety team & GRS and support safety improvement projects. Proactively engage in collaborative health and safety projects across the site. Complete risk assessments related to WHS OTR processes. Provide advice and guidance on health & safety matters to all stakeholders within the designated area of responsibility. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance with all applicable Amazon WHS Policies and Global Standards; develop local site WHS procedures and processes to meet Amazon Global Standards. Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly trends to discover trends and rationalize resource allocation to areas where the WHS risk is highest. Guide the site team in implementing road safety procedures and act as the OTR SME for any site queries. Liaise with partners on OTR incident reporting and tracking. Periodically review OTR incidents reported on quality reporting corrective actions and closure to provide gap assessment to the site team. Lead OTR safety tech implementation and other OTR initiatives as per roadmap. Travel up to 50 % of the time and work flexible shifts. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety OR Engineering or science bachelor’s degree. NEBOSH Diploma. 4 years of experience in the OSH field. Good English communication skills. Valid UAE driving license. Previous road safety experience/driving school. Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment and customer‑focus skills. Ability to adapt well to fast‑paced environments with changing circumstances, direction and strategy. Ability to analyze accident data, new processes and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses. Experience in emergency response and current First Aid and CPR certificates. Experience in Workers Compensation case management. Passion for safety. Travel up to 50 % of the time and work in shifts.
