RequirementsProven experience as a carpenter, minimum 1 year of work experienceAbility to read technical plans, blueprints and drawingsKnowledge of different woods and their characteristicsExperience using hand tools and power tools such as saws, drills, sanders etc.
Excellent problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently or as part of a teamResponsibilitiesMeasure and mark cutting lines on materials using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
Cut materials to size indicated in the plans or directions of supervisor using hand tools.
Assemble wood frames with nails and wood glue or use screws or dowels.
Accurately install hardware such as hinges, locksets, closers etc.
Sand wooden surfaces smooth with sandpaper or electric sander prior to finishing.
