Roles and responsibilities
  • Support the TLC ine-content development and management of complex e-learningprojects.
  • Collaborate with the in-house graphicdesigner, faculty, and other personnel to develop teachingmaterials, educational podcasts, videos, andcontent.
  • Evaluate and define designmethodologies, pedagogical approaches, and innovative technologiesto produce e-learning content.
  • Develop syllabi,manuals, guides, accreditation, rubrics, and assurance of learningmaterials.
  • Advance the University'sonline education mission and strategy.
  • Possess,and continue to develop, professional-level skills in instructionaldesign, including, but not limited to, deep understanding oflearning models, assessment, students' engagement,pedagogy, visual and artistic appeal, learning technology, andcurriculum mapping.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES &RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Contribute to the productionof high-quality videos, multimedia, and graphic materials tosupport the delivery of knowledge.
  • Support thework of the TLC in developing e-content and contribute to strategicdecisions.
  • Contribute to the formulation andexecution of the education technologystrategy.
  • Draft and curate policies andprocedures related to e-learning, blended learning, ande-content.
  • Collaborate with the concernedstakeholders to understand the requirements of AU'svarious functions and their pedagogicalneeds.
  • Devise, design, and build innovative andeffective learning solutions that cater to AU's needs andsolve possible emerging issues.
  • Coordinate withDeans, HoDs, Program Directors, and Faculty to evaluate the needsfor learning technologies (e.g., virtual classrooms, onlinecourses).
  • Develop and execute faculty trainingprograms related to best practices in instructional design andonline teaching.
  • Evaluate the efficiency andreliability of existing learning technologies and suggest solutionsto TLC manager.
  • Conduct relevant research andpursue networking opportunities to stay abreast of the emergingtechnologies, educational theories, and other learning aspectsrelevant to teaching and learning.
  • Develop,manage, and store learning objects, images, video clips, and othercontent.
  • Coordinate and plan events,presentations, and other activities to promote modern instructionaldesign techniques and online education.
  • AttendTLC and other AU meetings as needed, and contributepositively.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-relatedduties as assigned by the TLC manager.
Desired candidate profile
  • Bachelor's degreein a relevant field such as Education, Instructional Design,Education Technology, … etc. A Master's degreeis a plus.
  • 5 years of experience ininstructional design. Experience in a higher education environmentis a plus.

KNOWLEDGE &SKILLS:

  • Ability to write effectiveinstructional text, audio scripts/videoscripts.
  • Proven experience in instructionaldesign and instructional designtechnology.
  • Deep understanding of learningtheories and applications and instructional designmodels.
  • Ability to develop curriculum planningand mapping.
  • Basic HTML and Flash programmingknowledge
  • Solid knowledge of course developmentsoftware.
  • Experience with at least one LearningManagement System (e.g. Moodle).
  • Visual designskills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop,Illustrator).
  • Strong Interpersonal skills andthe ability to effectively communicate with various individuals andconstituencies in a diversecommunity.
  • Enthusiasm, teamwork, and attentionto detail.
  • Ability to work under stress andtight deadlines when needed.
  • Full Englishproficiency is required. Arabic is aplus.
  • Advanced computer skills arerequired.
