Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experiencedPlanning Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successfulcandidate will have over 8 years of recent experience working withconstruction consultants on utilities projects in Abu Dhabi. Thisrole will involve planning and scheduling project timelines,coordinating with project teams, and ensuring that projectmilestones are met efficiently and effectively.

KeyResponsibilities:

Project Planning andScheduling:

  • Developdetailed project plans and schedules for utilities projects,ensuring alignment with project goals andobjectives.
  • Utilize planning software (e.g.,Primavera P6, MS Project) to create, update, and maintain projectschedules.
  • Monitor project progress against thebaseline schedule and identify potential delays ordeviations.

Coordination andCommunication:

  • Coordinatewith multidisciplinary teams, including project managers,engineers, and contractors, to ensure cohesive projectexecution.
  • Communicate project schedules,updates, and changes to stakeholders and projectteams.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings todiscuss progress, address issues, and ensure alignment among allparties involved.

Risk Management andMitigation:

  • Identifypotential project risks and develop mitigation strategies toaddress them.
  • Conduct regular risk assessmentsand update risk management plans asnecessary.
  • Implement contingency plans toensure project continuity in case of unforeseenevents.

Progress Reporting andDocumentation:

  • Prepareand present regular progress reports, including schedule updates,variance analysis, and resourceallocation.
  • Maintain comprehensive projectdocumentation, including schedules, progress reports, and meetingminutes.
  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-dateand accessible to relevantstakeholders.

ContinuousImprovement:

  • Staycurrent with industry trends, best practices, and emergingtechnologies in project planning andscheduling.
  • Provide training and mentorship tojunior planning engineers and other teammembers.
  • Contribute to the continuousimprovement of WSP's planning and scheduling processesand tools.

We'd love to hear from youif youhave:

  • Bachelor'sdegree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a relatedfield.
  • A minimum of 8 years of recentexperience as a Planning Engineer with construction consultants,specifically on utilities projects in AbuDhabi.
  • Proven expertise in project planning andscheduling using tools such as Primavera P6 and MSProject.
  • Strong understanding of localregulations, standards, and best practices in Abu Dhabi'sconstruction and utilities sectors.
  • Excellentanalytical, organizational, and problem-solvingskills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonalskills, with the ability to effectively collaborate withmultidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • PMP(Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent ishighly desirable.
