Roles and responsibilities
  • Install, repair, andmaintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures incommercial and residential structures.
  • Respond,diagnose, and resolve plumbing issues.
  • Performroutine inspections of plumbing and drainagesystems.
  • Light construction, carpentry,painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, and electrical work asrequired.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and perform basicrepairs on all types of equipment.
  • Maintainmaintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies asneeded.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years experience workingon a similar role.
  • Hospitality background ispreferred.

  • 1. TechnicalPlumbingKnowledge

  • PlumbingSystems: In-depth knowledge of water supply systems,waste and drainage systems, and gas lines, as well as the abilityto identify and fix issues in thesesystems.
  • Pipe Fitting andInstallation: Expertise in installing, repairing,and replacing various types of pipes, including copper, PVC, steel,and more.
  • FixtureInstallation: Experience in installing plumbingfixtures such as sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, dishwashers,and water heaters.
  • BlueprintReading: Ability to read and understand blueprintsand building plans to ensure proper installation and repairsaccording tospecifications.

  • 2.Problem Solving andTroubleshooting

  • DiagnosticSkills: Ability to diagnose plumbing issuesaccurately, whether it's a clogged drain, leaking pipe,or broken appliance, and determine the appropriatesolution.
  • RepairSkills: Expertise in using a variety of tools torepair plumbing systems, such as pipe wrenches, plungers, andsoldering tools.
  • PreventativeMaintenance: Identifying potential issues beforethey become serious problems, such as checking for leaks ormaintaining waterheaters.

  • ManualSkills: Skilled at using hand tools and power toolsto cut, fit, and assemble pipingsystems.
  • PhysicalStamina: Ability to work in various conditions,including tight spaces, high or low positions, and sometimes inadverse weather conditions.
  • HeavyLifting: Ability to handle and lift heavy plumbingmaterials, including pipes, fixtures, andequipment.

  • IdentifyingPlumbing Issues: Inspecting systems to identifyleaks, clogs, and other plumbing issues and determining the bestcourse of action forrepairs.
  • Repairing Pipes andFixtures: Fixing leaks, broken pipes, malfunctioningwater heaters, and clogged drains using a range of tools andtechniques.
  • Gas LineRepairs: In some cases, plumbers may also beresponsible for repairing or installing gas lines, ensuring thatthey are safe andfunctional.

  • ClientConsultation: Consulting with clients to understandtheir plumbing needs, assess problems, and offer solutions orrecommendations.
  • ProvidingEstimates: Giving clients accurate estimates for thecost of plumbing work, including materials andlabor.

  • CodeAdherence: Ensuring that all plumbing work isperformed in compliance with local building codes, safetyregulations, and industrystandards.
