Site HSE Specialist – Hitachi Energy The Opportunity General Environmental Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the environment, including the broader community impacted by environmental hazards. Responsibilities include developing and implementing policies and practices to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments; investigating accidents and environmental incidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes and prevent recurrence; providing advice and training on safety protocols; conducting audits to ensure compliance with organisational and government standards; and maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the organisation’s environmental performance. How You’ll Make An Impact Act as a Site HSE Specialist within the HSE function for HVDC project sites. Lead the promotion of integrity, regulatory compliance, and corporate & social responsibility at all times. Drive and promote HSE positive behaviours. Support the HVDC HSE operations and site teams in HSE‐related matters and the implementation of HSE programmes and focus initiatives. Execute behavioural change through implementing group‑wide performance improvement programmes and practices locally to ensure an exemplary health and safety culture and strong environmental focus. Engage internal customers to raise awareness of all HSE matters across all functions. Be responsible for HSE reporting, analysis of hazards, incidents and other HSE KPIs for global HVDC project sites. Support the project HSE managers and site HSE team with HSE‑related issues. Participate in routine and non‑routine HSE audits. Coordinate and promote effective closure of various HSE origins and related corrective and preventive actions. Engage in incident investigation processes, ensuring causal factors are identified and sustainable actions are tracked to closure. Drive and promote HSE awareness and understanding within HVDC. Establish good communication and collaboration with the site HSE team and assist in HSE reporting. Share lessons learned and best practices with all project sites. Ensure compliance with Group management systems (e.g., ISO 14001 and ISO 45001). Co‑develop continuous improvement on HSE reporting and KPI methodology and analysis. Promote awareness and training of ISO Management System Standards as they apply to HSE operations and governance activities. Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines. Your Background Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field required, together with postgraduate (or) diploma in HSE from an approved institute. Minimum 7 + years of hands‑on HSE experience in electrical commissioning projects, power plants, substations or construction sites. Experience in the Middle East required. Knowledge of MS Office, Intelex, IMS considered an advantage. Key skills: teamwork, analytical thinking, communication and presentation ability. Proficiency in spoken and written English required. Proficiency in the local language required.
