Duties include but are not limitedto

Involve inreptiles husbandry (including conditioning andenrichment)

Maintenance ofexhibit holding and public areas of the assigneddepartment.

Reporting tosupervisor.

Excellent animalcare:

1 Feeds waters andcleans quarters of reptile s collection.

2 Adds vitamins or medication to food as prescribed byVets under supervision ofsupervisor.

3 Cleans animals quarters using rake water hose anddisinfectant.

4 Observes animals to detect illnesses and injuries andnotifies supervisor or vet health care department offindings.

5 Involve in transfers animals from one enclosure toanother for purposes such as breeding treatment rearrangement ofexhibits or shipping ifneeded.

6 Ability to buildrelationship withanimals.

7 Sets temperatureand humidity controls of quarters asspecified.

8 HandlingCaptures and restrainsmethods.

9 Hygienemanagement to preventdisease.

10 Inspectsenclosures daily for security and reports required containmentrepairs; determines the safety of exhibits before shifting animalsto exhibits; secures animals in holding when containment isquestionable .

11 Visitorinteractions including scheduled onground talks to our guestsanswers visitors questions concerning animals habits or zoooperations.

12 Completes dailyworksheets listing amount of food eatenetc.

13 Maintain thehighest level of safety in the work area through implementation ofsafety protocols and procedures to ensure safety for the animal andvisitors.

14 Participate inand support collaborative efforts pertaining to the care of thecollection including training enrichment research andeducation.

15 Actively fosterconstructive attitudes and a team orientation amongstaff.

16 Support thegoals of EPZ departments collection plan strategic and MasterPlans.

17 Overseeactivities of interns andvolunteers.

18 Participate inworkshops training sessions if needed to improve job knowledge andprofessionaldevelopment.

19 May assist vetsin treatment of animals for illnesses andinjuries.

20 May assistanimal trainer or instructor in presentation of programs shows orlectures.

21 Other duties asassigned
