Responsibilities:

  • Leadthe strategic vision for harnessing data to refine and enhancelogistics operations. This involves identifying key opportunitiesfor process optimization cost reduction and service qualityimprovements ensuring that data science initiatives are perfectlyaligned with Talabats broader businessgoals.

  • Champion the adoptionof a datadriven culture within logistics operations emphasizing theimportance of basing decisions on rigorous data analysis andactionable insights. This includes promoting the use of advancedanalytics and data science methodologies across all levels oflogistics operations.

  • Buildand maintain strong collaborative relationships with keystakeholders across product business and engineering teams. Ensurethat data science projects are integrated with and supportive ofoverall business strategies fostering a cohesive approach toachieving Talabatsobjectives.

  • Guide mentor anddevelop a highly skilled team of data scientists and data analysts.Set clear performance goals facilitate professional developmentopportunities and foster a supportive and innovative workenvironment that attracts toptalent.

  • Spearhead innovativedata science projects including the application of predictiveanalytics machine learning models and optimization algorithms.Focus on projects that have the potential to significantly impactlogistics efficiency and customersatisfaction.

  • Ensure thedevelopment and maintenance of a robust and scalable datainfrastructure that supports advanced analytics and data scienceactivities. This includes advocating for best practices in datagovernance quality control and compliance with relevant dataprotectionregulations.

  • Oversee thegeneration of insightful analytical reports and dashboards thattrack key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide strategicinsights to both the logistics team and senior management. Ensurethat these insights are actionable and contribute to informeddecisionmakingprocesses.

  • Serve as a keypoint of communication between the data science unit and bothinternal and external stakeholders. Translate complex datadriveninsights into clear understandable and actionable recommendationsfor various audiences.

  • Stayabreast of the latest trends and advancements in data sciencelogistics and technology. Incorporate cuttingedge practices andtools into Talabats data science strategy to maintain a competitiveedge and foster continuousimprovement.

  • Effectivelymanage resources and priorities to strike a balance betweenlongterm strategic initiatives and immediate operational needs.Ensure that the data science teams efforts are focused on projectswith the highest potential for positive impact on Talabatsoperations.

  • Design implementand manage experimental frameworks such as A/B testing to validatenew ideas and measure their impact on logistics performance. Usethese insights to guide continuous improvementefforts.

  • Provide expertanalytical support to crossfunctional teams assisting in thedevelopment of KPIs and goalsetting processes that align withTalabats strategicobjectives.

  • Lead by exampleto cultivate an environment of excellence and innovation within thedata science team. Encourage creative thinking continuous learningand the exploration of new ideas to drive forward Talabatslogisticsoperations.

TechnicalExpertise:

  • Proficientin the full data analysis lifecycle including problem formulationdata auditing rigorous analysis interpretation andpresentation.

  • Advancedskills in data analysis tools and programming languages such asPython R andSQL.

  • Demonstrated expertisein data modeling dimensional design and the ability to understandand manipulate complex datastructures.

  • Strongbackground in experiment design and statistical analysis capable ofconducting and analyzing A/B and multivariatetests.

  • Knowledge of Big Datatechnologies preferably with experience in BigQuery and the GoogleCloud Platform.

  • Experiencein data engineering and pipeline development e.g. through toolslike Airflow is highlyregarded.

  • Familiarity withclassical machine learning frameworks (e.g. Scikitlearn XGBoostLightGBM) isadvantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorsor Masters degree in Engineering Computer Science Technology orrelated fields. An advanced degree ispreferred.

  • A minimum of 8years of experience in data science with at least 3 years in aleadership role managing data teams oroperations.

  • Provenleadership ability in managing diverse highperforming teams and indeveloping and executing strategic plans to meet businessobjectives.

  • Exceptionalcollaboration and communication skills capable of guidinginfluencing and persuading a wide range ofstakeholders.

  • Demonstratedproblemsolving skills with a growth mindset able to tackle complexchallenges and drive forward innovativesolutions.
