  • Should be aware of Ensuring healthand safety aspects of laboratory staff and environment &industrial safety laws andrequirements.
  • Understand the possible hazardsof the laboratory, safety regulations and procedures, andexperience working with safety equipment such as protectiveclothing, goggles, and gloves.
  • Generalknowledge of hazardous material handling, storage, and disposalwould be good to have.
  • Manage the inventory andkeep accurate records of materials andtools.

Qualifications:

  • 3 Year Technical Diploma inEngineering in Civil / Mechatronics / Mechanical / Electrical andElectronics Engineering
  • Minimum 3years' experience in a similar role andenvironment
  • Experience in Hydraulic Laboratoryfor physical model testing in wave flumes and wave basinspreferred.
Desired candidate profile

1.Technical Drawing and BlueprintReading

  • Ability tounderstand and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, andspecifications to create modelsaccurately.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Computer-AidedDesign) software may be required for digital modeling in someindustries.

2. Hands-onCraftsmanship

  • Strongmanual skills for creating physical models from a variety ofmaterials such as wood, metal, clay, foam, plastic, andmore.
  • Ability to work with hand tools, powertools, and machinery specific to the material you'reworking with (e.g., saws, drills, sanders, or 3Dprinters).

3. MaterialKnowledge

  • Understandingdifferent materials' properties and how to work with themto achieve the desired result.
  • Knowing how tochoose the right material for strength, flexibility, texture, orother physical attributes.

4.Attention toDetail

  • Precision is keywhen creating models, especially in fields like engineering,architecture, or entertainment. Small inaccuracies can affect thefinal product.

5.Problem-Solving

  • Theability to troubleshoot issues that arise during the model creationprocess. This could involve adapting designs or finding creativesolutions when materials or tools don't behave asexpected.

6. Knowledgeof 3D Printing andPrototyping

  • Forindustries like engineering or product design, familiarity withmodern prototyping technologies, such as 3D printing, lasercutting, or CNC machining, is a majorasset.

7. ProjectManagement

  • In somecases, model technicians are involved in overseeing projects,managing timelines, and ensuring that the model is delivered tospecifications and on time.

8.Sculpting and ArtisticAbilities

  • In creativeindustries like film, television, or gaming, model technicians mayneed artistic skills to sculpt and design models that are visuallyappealing or realistic.

9.Basic Electronics and Wiring (in someindustries)

  • In certainfields like product design or engineering, a model technician mayneed to integrate basic electrical components, lights, or movingparts into their models.

10.Collaboration andCommunication

  • Abilityto work closely with designers, engineers, or other professionalsto understand the model's function and make adjustmentsas necessary.
  • Clear communication is importantto ensure that everyone involved in the project is on the same pageregarding goals and progress.

11.TimeManagement

  • Creatingmodels often involves strict deadlines, so the ability to manageyour time effectively to meet these deadlines isessential.
