The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager (PM) to lead systematic trading strategies across LME, CME, and SHFE markets. At Open Mineral, PMs gain access to a vast pool of alpha signals developed by our leading quantitative researchers, as well as proprietary insights derived from our extensive physical trading expertise. The role focuses on portfolio construction, risk-adjusted returns, and execution optimization, rather than requiring prior experience in quantitative base metals trading.

This is an opportunity to be part of a high-caliber team at the intersection of commodity markets and quantitative finance, applying systematic methods to extract alpha from metals trading while leveraging unique physical market insights.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage systematic alpha-driven trading strategies in base metals (LME, CME, SHFE).
  • Utilize Open Mineral's exclusive access to hundreds of alpha signals from our research pool.
  • Optimize trading strategies with a focus on risk-adjusted returns and robust portfolio construction.
  • Leverage Open Mineral's physical market intelligence to enhance quantitative trading models.
  • Work closely with quant researchers, engineers, and risk teams to refine execution strategies.
  • Continuously monitor and adapt models based on market dynamics and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to manage capital with a track record of risk-adjusted returns.
  • Strong background in systematic trading, portfolio management, or alpha-driven strategies.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, C++, or other programming languages used for quant research and execution.
  • Knowledge of market microstructure, execution algorithms, and portfolio construction.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to build and scale systematic strategies.
