Arabic Teacher Role Profile

Purpose of Role
The purpose of the role of Arabic Teacher is to share the responsibility for planning, teaching, and assessments of the subjects assigned that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. They must take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy and articulacy as well as set high expectations and standards which inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils. The Arabic Teacher will be a suitably qualified educator with a proven capacity to lead and effectively deliver teaching and learning to a very high standard. They will be accountable for ensuring that children are inspired, motivated, and equipped to make as much progress with their learning as possible and as independently as possible. The incumbent will work closely with colleagues and support the work of the school. They will require initiative, be empathetic and proactive, with a personable and positive character. The post holder will be required to have a positive impact on the work of the school e.g. through subject leadership and extra-curricular activities.

Arabic Teacher Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan the teaching to achieve progression of learning through identifying clear teaching objectives and specifying how they will be taught.
  2. Set tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest.
  3. Set clear targets, building on prior progress and attainment.
  4. Identify SEN/EAL pupils.
  5. Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
  6. Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of the program of study.
  7. Maintain high standards of work and homework.
  8. Use a variety of teaching methods to match approach to content, structure information, and present information.
  9. Use effective questioning, listen carefully to pupils, give attention to errors and misconceptions.
  10. Select appropriate learning resources and develop study skills through library, I.C.T., and other sources.
  11. Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate knowledge, skills, and understanding appropriate to the subject taught.
  12. Ensure the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support.
  13. Encourage pupils to think and talk about their learning, develop self-control and independence, concentrate and persevere, and listen attentively.
  14. Be involved in developing, implementing, and monitoring subject policy and assist in the production of such documentation when required.
  15. Ensure that the children's work is marked, displayed, and presented to a high standard in the classroom and throughout the school, and are changed regularly.
  16. Consistently and diligently apply and uphold the rules of the school to maintain discipline, dress code, and ensure the happiness, safety, and well-being of all pupils and community.
  17. Maintain, with the rest of the staff, high standards of conduct both in and out of the classroom, acting in a way that is honest, justifiable, and in the best interests of the pupils.
  18. Maintain smart and professional standards of appearance with particular attention to, and awareness of, cultural sensitivities.
  19. Support the School Improvement Plan in relation to the curriculum and the continuing improvement of student achievement.

Monitoring, Assessing, Recording and Reporting

  1. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of personal teaching to maintain high standards and ensure student progression.
  2. Evaluate own teaching critically to improve effectiveness.
  3. Participate in classroom observation of colleagues (peer observations) when required and participate in observations by peers.
  4. Submit books, records, or planning as required for monitoring by colleagues or SLT.
  5. Mark and monitor pupils' work and regularly set targets for progress.
  6. Assess and record pupils' progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitors strengths and weaknesses.
  7. Plan and recognize the level at which the pupil is achieving.
  8. Undertake assessment of students as requested through departmental and school procedures.
  9. Prepare and present informative reports to parents.
  10. Regularly assess the pupils' work by means of formal and informal termly, half-termly assessment and end of units as directed by SLT.
  11. Communicate with the school SENCO and Head of Key Stage regarding any pupil whose progress or behaviour gives cause for concern.
  12. Keep records and ensure that they are available for sharing with colleagues and/or inspection by members of the SLT, ISP, and ADEK Inspection team.
  13. Assist with the resourcing of the subjects taught, as directed by the Head of Key Stage/department.

Curriculum Development

  1. Within a team, develop plans that identify clear targets and success criteria for the development and maintenance of the school's curriculum.
  2. Contribute to the whole school's planning activities.

Directed Time

  1. Ensure attendance in school between stipulated hours and to attend all meetings/functions deemed to be directed time, including two extracurricular activities and one planning session every week.

Punctuality

  1. Set high standards with regard to punctuality and encourage the same from the pupils and colleagues.
  2. Enter student attendance in the system and notify the Parent Relations Executive if there are any absences or late comers.

Health and Safety

  1. Emphasize the importance of safety in all areas of the curriculum, communicating to the pupils the importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safety, the safety of others, and respect for Aspen Heights British Schools property and equipment.
  2. Perform all playground duties on time and with due diligence to safeguard Aspen students.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. Ensure that all the necessary health and safety rules and procedures are being followed.
  5. Maintain an awareness of all the health and safety measures to be taken when in school.

Communication with Parents

  1. Communicate with parents on a regular, informal basis and deal with day-to-day queries.
  2. Attend Parents Evenings as required and provide accurate, honest information regarding the progress of individuals at these meetings.
  3. Report to the parents in the form of written reports twice yearly or when required by the SLT.

Staff Development, ECA & Cover

  1. Attend and participate fully in Staff Development, staff meetings, and briefings as set.
  2. Provide cover for absent colleagues as and when necessary.
  3. Contribute to the extra-curricular activity program to enrich the school experience for the pupils as reasonably directed by the SLT and ECA Coordinator.

Skills, Qualifications And Experience

  1. Bachelor degree in Education.
  2. PG diploma/QTS.
  3. 2 years school experience.
  4. English & Arabic is mandatory.

  1. General knowledge of the practices, methods, and techniques used in laboratory teaching.
  2. Ability to deal effectively with students and teachers.
  3. Skilled in the use of laboratory equipment safely.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers and students.
  5. Proven laboratory management skills.
  6. Ability to instruct and assist students.
  7. Knowledge and understanding of the School Laboratory Improvement Process.
  8. Excellent knowledge in creating and following the Laboratory Usage Manual.
  9. Data managing skills to track records of the students.
  10. Knowledge of Health and Safety awareness of using the laboratory.
  11. External Safety Certification.
  12. Willingness to undertake appropriate Professional Development.
  13. Good oral and written communication skills.
  14. Willing attitude to be a part of the school team.
  15. Strong sense of professionalism.
  16. Safeguarding and welfare of children.
  17. Excellent communication skills and command of the English language, in spoken and written form.
