  • Participatein and support collaborative efforts pertaining to the care of thecollection including training enrichment research andeducation.
  • Activelyfoster constructive attitudes and a team orientation amongstaff.
  • Contributesto conservation activities asassigned.
  • Supportthe goals of EPZ departments collection plan strategic and MasterPlans.
  • Overseeactivities of interns andvolunteers .
  • Participatein workshops training sessions if needed to improve job knowledgeand professionaldevelopment.
  • Mayassist vets in treatment of animals for illnesses andinjuries.
  • Mayassist animal trainer or instructor in presentation of programsshows orlectures.
  • Alarge percentage of duties are performed outdoors in variousweather conditions ranging from rain wind cool to cold weather andextreme heat andhumidity.

Requirements

Highschool zoology or related field ispreferred.

Oneyear of prior animal care experience (paid) at a controlledenvironmentfacility.

Goodcommunication skills an enthusiasm for interacting with the publicand a willingness to give regular talks to visitors special groupsetc.

Familiarwith operant conditioning and enrichmenttechniques.

Mustbe able to function as a team member and support zoo smission

Mustbe dependable and demonstrate flexibility regarding workschedules

Mustbe willing to work weekends andholidays

Mustbe able to work outdoors in inclementweather

Mustbe able to perform strenuous work and lift at least 25 kgrepetitively bending liftingetc.

Englishis must Arabic ispreferred.

Mustbe willing to work with different cultures andnationalities.

Equivalentcombinations of education and experience will beconsidered.
