OurFacility

Good SamaritanHospital Medical Center, a member of Catholic Health Services ofLong Island, is a 537-bed (including 100 nursing home beds),not-for-profit hospital serving the communities on the south shoreof Long Island in West Islip, New York. Good Samaritan'shigh-quality medical services extend across the continuum of careto all disciplines, both for inpatients and outpatients. GoodSamaritan is one of the largest providers of emergency services onLong Island. The Ambulatory Surgery Department, where patients havesame-day procedures, treats an average of almost 300 patients eachweek. Pediatric patients are treated in the pediatric emergencydepartment and, if necessary, admitted to the Pediatric Unit or thePediatric Intensive Care Unit. Pediatric sub-specialists areavailable around the clock to support these medicalservices.

Our EmergencyDepartment

The emergencydepartment evaluates and treats patients presenting with all typesof emergencies, 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. It is the onlyVerified Level II Trauma Center for both adult and pediatricpatients on the south shore of Long Island. The emergency medicineclinical team works collaboratively with the in-hospital TraumaTeam to provide immediate trauma care to all patients presentingwith a traumatic injury. The emergency department also providesimmediate access to a 24-7 cardiac percutaneous coronaryintervention team and is a Comprehensive Stroke Center. Theemergency department's staff includes physicians, nurses,and physician assistants who are trained and experienced inresponding to emergent medical problems in patients of all ages.Approximately 90,000 injured or ill adult and pediatric patientsare treated every year in the emergency department.
