Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design of piping systems, including layout, sizing, and material selection.
- Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and piping isometrics using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Plant 3D, PDMS, or Revit).
- Develop piping design schematics and plans in line with project specifications and industry standards.
- Project Coordination and Execution
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the design meets the project requirements.
- Coordinate with construction teams to ensure the designs are feasible and align with real-world conditions.
- Ensure that designs are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Compliance and Standards Adherence
- Ensure that designs comply with industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API, DIN) and local regulatory requirements.
- Verify that materials, welding, and fabrication methods meet the necessary specifications.
- Conduct stress and flow analysis of piping systems to ensure system integrity.
- Design Optimization
- Optimize designs to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and minimize risks during installation and operation.
- Identify potential design improvements or challenges during the planning and execution phases.
- Apply industry best practices and innovative approaches to complex design challenges.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare technical documentation, including design calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Ensure proper documentation of materials, equipment, and vendor specifications.
- Maintain organized records of revisions and updates to the piping designs.
- Mentoring and Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior piping designers and CAD operators.
- Lead design reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve design processes and outcomes.
- Ensure quality control through peer reviews and continuous design optimization.
- Problem-Solving
- Troubleshoot and resolve design issues during the construction and installation phases.
- Develop creative solutions to complex piping layout challenges, ensuring safety and functionality.
We are currently looking for a Senior Piping Designer to be based in Abu Dhabi location.
Main Purpose Of Role
Key Designer Role within the business to lead discipline designing performance on projects & to provide expert technical design leadership and design assurance on projects as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Engineering (Preferable)
Essential
Knowledge / Experience (Skills):
- 13 -20 years of Oil & Gas Design Experience.
Advantage
- Previous experience in Region
Technical Knowledge And Skills (Discipline Specific)
- Knowledge of basic engineering processes
- Familiarity with international codes, standards and engineering practices
- Thorough knowledge of onshore design engineering for the oil, gas and water field.
- Knowledge of 2D & 3D CAD applications
- Knowledge of ESD is an added advantage
- Familiarity with CTB & different client protocols
- Familiarity with general arrangement & Isometrics
- Familiarity with Pipe Supports and Piping Schedule
- Familiarity with developing plot plans
