Job Description

To be responsible to guide a team of maintenance personnel, including engineers and technicians in day-to-day

maintenance of the hospital building and non-medical equipment.

Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for taking decisions on project work being carried out inside the hospital premises.
  2. Responsible for upgrading and modernization of utility equipment in various areas.
  3. Dealing with government organizations and other establishments in relation to the maintenance department.
  4. Responsible for planning, costing, and execution of various projects inside the hospital premises.
  5. Taking policy decisions in coordination with the management.
  6. Responsible for the welfare of the staff in the department.
  7. Fixing of contractors for specific jobs with the help of the system-in-charge.
  8. Long-term planning in taking up renovations/modifications.
  9. Responsible for preparing and projecting budgets for maintenance activities.
  10. Contribute to Quality initiatives.
  11. Train the staff for effective application and upgrading of equipment.
  12. Convey day-to-day meetings of engineers/supervisors and analyze problems and find solutions.
  13. Coordinate with other departments for different projects.
  14. Analyze recurring day-to-day problems and find solutions.
  15. Conduct appraisals of the staff with the help of the Assistant Engineer and System In-charges.
  16. Analyze complaints and take necessary actions.
  17. Make personnel decisions regarding the staff.
  18. Fix contractors for specific jobs with the help of the system-in-charge.
  19. Plan long-term renovations/modifications.
  20. Ensure disciplined departmental functioning.
  21. Perform any job/work as assigned by the superior.
  22. Set up specific targets in the department.
  23. Address work-related problems faced by Technicians/supervisors and find solutions.
  24. Manage the respective section in day-to-day activities.
  25. Carry out all routine and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  26. Organize manpower and materials for the day-to-day activities.
  27. Assign work for technicians.
  28. Oversee contract jobs in the respective fields.
  29. Take care of the welfare of the staff.
  30. Be a member of the FMS committee and contribute actively.
  31. Identify risk factors and take necessary actions.
  32. Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, and cooperate with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
  33. Work in accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities.
  34. Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  35. Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, and assist with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
  36. Comply with waste management procedures and policies.
  37. Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
  38. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
  39. Ensure that any workplaces managed or controlled are safe and without risks to health, safety, or the environment.
  40. Ensure implementation of applicable HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS, and infection control policies and standards.
  41. Ensure adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
  42. Designate a Safety facilitator responsible for coordinating OSH activities within the department.
  43. Regularly discuss OSH issues or matters in departmental/management meetings.
  44. Ensure provision of OSH information, training, and supervision.
  45. Implement and monitor the effectiveness of the risk management program.
  46. Maintain the building and facility in a safe manner.
  47. Prepare building management plans and budgets.
  48. Prepare for and participate in the Emergency management program.
  49. Provide expert advice and information in building and facilities OSH matters.
  50. Support the development of objectives and monitor achievement of objectives and compliance with HAAD Health Sector OSHMS requirements across all departments.
Qualifications
  1. A Diploma/Graduate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning or its equivalent.
  2. B.E / Graduate Engineer.
  3. 5 to 10 years' experience in the relevant field.
  4. Management skills, interpersonal skills, time management, knowledge of equipment and maintenance, analytical skills.
  5. Good English spoken and written; Arabic language advantageous, desirable, but not essential.
