Digital-Cuttings Geoscientist

GEOLOG is a world leader in oilfield services delivering solutions to Oil, Gas and Geothermal operators globally, with a workforce in excess of 1,500 and operations in 40+ countries.

Due to the rapid expansion of our specialist advanced Digital-Cuttings service, Geolog is looking to recruit new Geoscience talent into this team, in order to assist with data generation and interpolation, as well as liaising with, and presenting results directly to the Customer base. The ideal candidate must have sedimentological/reservoir geological experience in Middle East carbonate and clastic Plays, and in particular demonstrate a proven track record in such disciplines as elemental/mineralogical data interpretation, core description, petrography, sedimentology/stratigraphy, well correlation, palaeonvironmental reconstruction, core analysis, integration with petrophysical and geophysical data, reservoir quality interpretation, basin/regional studies and petroleum system analysis.

The candidate will be expected to work independently but will be part of a regional and global team of likeminded talent.

POSITION

• Middle East, preferably Dubai based, but other locations within the region are available.
• The candidate will be expected to work independently in an office environment, for a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• The candidate will be responsible for liaising with the Digital-Cuttings laboratory staff, receiving data, organizing data, analysing data, interpreting data and presenting results internally and externally to the Customer base.
• The candidate will be responsible for creating the end products as per the Geolog Digital-Cuttings guidelines.
• The candidate will assist with business development and will be expected to present to Customers and at key conferences.
• The candidate from time-to-time will be working in a team environment or in isolation, depending on the requirements of a particular project.
• Minimum 10 years' experience with carbonate & clastic Middle East Petroleum Plays will be essential.

REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum Masters in a relevant Geoscience discipline (sedimentological or reservoir geological discipline preferred).
• Experience with Geological well plotting CAD software such as WellCAD beneficial but not essential (the candidate will be trained).
• Must demonstrate an analytical and methodical approach to work.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to pass a work related Physical and drug screening.
• Willingness to travel at short notice within the Middle East region and internationally, will be required.
• Must be willing to relocate and/or reside in Dubai or another Geolog base within the region.
