Purpose of Role

The role of the PE Teacher is to plan, teach and assess physical education lessons that encourage pupils to develop their physical, social, and emotional skills while achieving their full potential. The teacher must set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils, fostering a positive attitude towards physical activity and overall well-being. As a qualified educator, the PE Teacher will deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that cater to diverse abilities, build pupils' confidence, and equip them with essential physical and teamwork skills.

Proficiency in teaching swimming is essential, as the teacher will play a pivotal role in helping pupils build water confidence, develop swimming techniques, and understand water safety. They will work closely with colleagues to support school initiatives, including subject leadership, extracurricular activities, and inter-school competitions, promoting teamwork and school spirit. The role requires empathy, initiative, and a proactive attitude to create a supportive environment where pupils feel safe and motivated to grow. Additionally, the teacher will adapt their strategies to accommodate pupils with English as an additional language, ensuring equity and inclusion. The PE Teacher will contribute significantly to fostering a culture of excellence, encouraging lifelong engagement in physical activity, and supporting the school's overall development.
