Senior Mechanical Engineer The senior mechanical engineer shall be responsible for reviewing the design of mechanical items in buildings and ensuring compliance with company requirements and all relevant national and international rules and regulations. Supervise and monitor the execution of the mechanical part of projects of varying size and complexity, focusing on national and international codes, standards, health and safety, design submitted by consultants, shop drawings by contractors, and site quality requirements/HSE in the execution stage, considering contract requirements and specifications. Responsibilities Project‑manage and multitask mechanical parts of projects, with commercial awareness, team leadership and management skills. Coordinate and be responsible for mechanical engineering drawings and specifications on multiple projects. Review technical specifications prepared by consultants at project initiation to ensure they match FCW requirements. Ensure contractors, subcontractors and supervision consultants implement the relevant company systems, policies and procedures. Ensure contractors and consultants comply with operational quality manuals and guidelines. Review all detailed engineering design calculations to ensure compliance with FCW and authority requirements. Review mechanical design of fire protection and process piping systems to ensure compliance with UAE DCD standards and codes of practice. Supervise execution of mechanical engineering parts of projects of various sizes and complexity. Carry out vendor data reviews and review supervision consultant comments and recommendations for mechanical equipment. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and supervision consultants to ensure cost‑effective, safe and timely completion of projects. Provide the senior construction engineer/technical manager with status reports. Supervise and monitor compliance with contract specifications for systems such as centrifugal chillers, compressor systems, boilers, water treatment, AHU, ventilation, catering equipment, cooling towers, general mechanical systems, HSE refrigerant program, FM200 and firefighting/fire alarm systems. Provide technical support to contractors or consultants and conduct root‑cause analyses on corrective actions for maintenance and project commissioning/integration activities. Review mechanical shop drawings submitted by contractors, comment and ensure compliance with contract specifications and authority requirements, maintaining records of all submittals. Inspect samples provided by contractors per FCW procedures, ensuring best quality for materials provided. Initiate or request corrective and preventive actions for mechanical parts of the project when non‑compliance is found in materials, installation, authority standards, FCW manuals, policies, procedures or approved contractor plans. Lead all outsourced maintenance activities, plan audits and risk assessments. Supervise and monitor contractor installation of all mechanical services, coordinate services and subcontractors on site, review and comment on drawings, documentation, submittals, deal with RFIs and collect data for daily and weekly progress reports. Qualifications Graduation as a mechanical engineer with a minimum of 15 years of experience; at least 8 years working in UAE. Good knowledge of BS/AC standards, national codes, DEWA standards and project requirements. Experience and understanding of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems. Consulting engineering background. Mechanical and electrical coordination experience. Physical requirements Move around the job site, maneuvering around construction site obstacles and hiking terrain in various weather conditions, lifting and/or moving equipment.
