Depending ontheir specialisation and employment requirements Field Engineerscan work as fulltime within a company and offer technical supportand require to work overtime and weekends to suite the Company andCustomer needs. Site Visit Reports will be submitted to themanagement team once the site visit is complete. The Field Engineerwill need to keep record of his hours using our internal companyapplication software which must be submitted daily forapproval.

Yourresponsibilities will include but not limitedto:

  • Providesupport to remote sites in and around theRegion.
  • Afterhours oncall support for requestedsites.
  • Providesupport to other HPIT support teams asneeded.
  • Participatein operational meetings asrequired
  • LANand Voice MACDknowledge/skills

Maintainand update existing network infrastructure. Thisincludes:

  • Addingconnectivity between labs offices and network equipment via copperandfibre
  • Ensuringthat all links have been tested jumpers labelled and documented andplaced on the proper subnet (testing plan provided byimplementationengineer)
  • Removecables no longer in use following appropriateprocedures
  • Troubleshootand repair system connections asneeded
  • Communicatewith HP engineers regarding capacity of network equipment so thatnecessary cabling and hardware changes can be made to ensure portavailability
  • Assembleand install switching equipment under the direction of networkengineer.
  • Maintainswitch information: naming and patching according to HP sstandards
  • Installnetwork cards as needed on switches and switchinghubs
  • Mountall network hardware and labelled with proper IP address and systemname
  • Whererequired maintain inventory of spare equipment operating suppliesand cables. This will include creating and/or maintainingspreadsheets and/or other documentation regarding inventorylevels
  • Createand maintain accurate documentation regarding site Cabling Supportservice
  • Sendrepresentation to appropriate platform meetings and other meetingsthat affect the service beingsupported
  • HardwareDepot/ Hardware Recovery Centresupport
  • Loanerequipmentmanagement.
  • PartsOrdering and inventorymanagement.
  • Shippingand Receivingmanagement.
  • Provisionauthentication hardware like active smart cards Active Keys andsmart card readers for users using HP internalsystems.
  • NewPC setup install reimage and Enduser datatransfer.
  • Systemsoftware & hardware support in PCs.
  • Incident management&resolution.
  • Demonstrateleadership in identifying and implementing best practices in theform of process and quality improvements for the servicessupported. All changes/implementations must be approved by HP priorto beingcompleted
Requirements

TechnicalSkills

  • Proficiencyin operating systems such as Windows Linux andMacOS.
  • Knowledgeof LAN and Voice MACD (Moves Adds Changes andDeletes).
  • Experiencewith TCP/IP network cabling andtroubleshooting.
  • Familiaritywith firewall setup and basic management (e.g. OpenSourcePfSense).
  • Abilityto write and use basic scripts for automation and processimprovement.
  • Experiencewith virtualization tools like Proxmox and backuptools.

EducationandExperience

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a relatedfield(preferred).
  • 3years of experience in a similar role providing technical supportand managing ITsystems.
  • Experiencein network infrastructure maintenance and hardwaresetup.

OtherRequirements

  • Willingnessto travel frequently to customersites.

Flexibilityto work overtime and weekends asneeded.
