  • Assumes after-hours responsibilitiesfor the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds forthose hospitalized.
  • Orders diagnosticlaboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining thediagnosis and prescribing applicabletherapy.
  • Determines the eligibility of patientsfor admission.
  • Adheres to the By-laws and Rulesand Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that workperformed is in keeping with the established standards of the JointCommission of Accreditation ofHospitals.
  • Consults with anesthesiologist onthe choice of anesthesia to beused.

  • Participates in the Quality Assuranceactivities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews, peerreview activities etc.).
  • Participates inhospital committee functions asassigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned bythe head of the department.
