Roles and responsibilities

  1. ElectricalSystem Design

    • Designelectrical systems, including power distribution, lighting,grounding, and wiring for new or renovated buildings, industrialplants, or infrastructure projects.
    • Createdetailed electrical layouts, one-line diagrams, and schematicsusing CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or ElectricalCAD).
    • Select appropriate electrical components(e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, panels) based on projectrequirements, industry standards, and budgetconstraints.

  2. Collaborationwith Engineers andStakeholders

    • Workclosely with electrical engineers to refine designs and ensure thatall systems meet technicalspecifications.
    • Collaborate with architects,mechanical engineers, and other design professionals to integrateelectrical systems seamlessly into largerprojects.
    • Provide input and feedback duringdesign reviews to ensure that the electrical design meets safety,operational, and regulatoryrequirements.

  3. CodeCompliance andSafety

    • Ensure thatelectrical designs comply with relevant codes and regulations(e.g., National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE, local building codes,OSHA regulations).
    • Design electrical systemswith safety in mind, ensuring proper grounding, protection againstelectrical hazards, and efficient energyuse.
    • Keep up to date with changes in electricalcodes and standards, incorporating new requirements into futuredesigns.

  4. LoadCalculations and SystemSizing

    • Perform loadcalculations to determine the appropriate size and capacity ofelectrical systems, circuits, andequipment.
    • Ensure that electrical designs arebalanced, with sufficient capacity to meet operational needs whileavoiding overloading.
    • Analyze energyrequirements and design systems that optimize energyefficiency.

  5. ConstructionDocumentation andSupport

    • Prepare andmaintain comprehensive electrical design documentation, includingdrawings, specifications, and materiallists.
    • Provide technical support during theconstruction phase, addressing any design issues that arise andensuring that installation adheres to the designspecifications.
    • Assist in troubleshootingelectrical system issues during installation andcommissioning.

  6. DesignOptimization

    • Optimizeelectrical designs to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, andensure long-term reliability.
    • Recommendalternative solutions or materials to improve the overallperformance or cost-effectiveness of the electricalsystem.

  7. ProjectCoordination andManagement

    • Assist inproject planning, providing timelines, budgets, and resourceestimates for electrical systems.
    • Coordinatewith contractors and vendors to ensure that electrical componentsand systems are delivered and installed onschedule.

  8. ContinuousLearning andInnovation

    • Stay currentwith new technologies and trends in electrical design, includingsmart building systems, renewable energy integration, andautomation.
    • Participate in professionaldevelopment activities and certifications to stay up-to-date withindustry standards.
Desired candidate profile

Core Designer Role to produce thevolume of Design Drawings on projects and within the business asrequired.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Diploma(Preferable)

Essential

Knowledge/ Experience (Skills):

  • 7 - 12 years of Oil & GasDesign Experience.

Advantage

  • Previous experience inRegion
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experienceas a Lead Designer

Technical KnowledgeAnd Skills (Discipline Specific)

  • Knowledge of basic engineeringprocesses
  • Familiarity with international codes,standards and engineering practices
  • Ability toindependently originate and check Electrical design drawings withminimal input from engineers.
  • Knowledge inengineering Data Base related with Electricaldiscipline
  • Familiarity with SLDs and CableRouting
