We are looking for a Cashier for a supermarket that scans items to ensure prices and quantities are correct and assists those needing help or advice on products. Responsibilities Managing transactions with customers using cash registers. Scanning goods and ensuring pricing is accurate. Collecting payments whether in cash or credit. Accepting payments, ensuring all prices and quantities are accurate, and proving a receipt to every customer. Processing refunds and exchanges, resolving complaints. Issue receipts, refunds, change or tickets. Cashiers are often the last point of contact between the customer and the store. Cashiers ring up purchases by scanning barcodes, entering prices manually, or using a cash register. Cashiers are responsible for handling cash transactions accurately. Providing excellent customer service is an important aspect of the cashier role. Cashiers may be trained to detect counterfeit currency, prevent theft, and report suspicious activity to store management or security personnel. Cashiers may be responsible for keeping their workstations clean and organized, ensuring the area is presentable to customers. Qualifications Most cashier positions do not require a formal education beyond a high school diploma. Cashiers need to be proficient in basic math.
