Job Description

Typical work activities:
  • Assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques.
  • Performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images.
  • Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination, and post-examination stay in the department.
  • Assisting in more complex radiological examinations under the supervision of a radiologist and senior staff.
  • Working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise.
  • Using initiative to prioritize, deliver and time-manage workload effectively and, when appropriate, assisting senior staff to plan efficient control of work flow patterns within the department.
  • Communicating with patients and others in a clear, respectful, and appropriate way.
  • Positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness, or trauma.
  • Dealing confidently with difficult situations.
  • Recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality.
  • Learning new techniques and technologies as required by professional bodies and participating in annual performance appraisal programmes.
  • Supervising assistant practitioners and other staff, and delivering appropriate training.
  • Performing necessary administrative tasks, when required.
  • Understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others.
  • Undertaking quality control checks on X-rays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives.
  • Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported to Biomedical and HOD.
  • Reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures.
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the department.
  • Ensuring LMP & rule out pregnancy in female patients.
  • Ensuring that the consent form is duly filled up.
  • Assisting Radiologist in maintaining department flow.
  • Explaining contrast risk to patients and clarifying patients' doubts (if needed in conjunction with radiologist).
  • Maintaining stocks of film/contrast.
  • Managing PACS and HMS as needed.
  • Performing any other work/job as and when assigned by the superior.
  • Adhering to JCIA and other standards.
  • Ensuring Continuous Professional Development.
  • Arranging forms for Radiologist for reporting and ensuring timely delivery of images for reporting.
  • Routine X-ray, Fluoroscopy, CT, BMD, and C-ARM.
  • Ensuring the rooms and equipment are kept clean.
  • Explaining to the patient before starting the procedure.
  • Ensuring that necessary radiation protection is given to the patient.
  • Taking X-ray as per the instruction given for digital processing.
  • Checking the quality of X-ray before the patient leaves the department.
  • Sending the images for reporting to doctors through the PACS system.
  • Attending bedside X-rays and theater calls whenever required.
  • Giving necessary instruction and appointment to the patient in case of contrast studies.
  • Carrying out the fluoroscopy procedures according to the instruction given by the radiologist.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • QUALIFICATION, LICENSURE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL
Skills
  • College Degree in Radiography or its equivalent.
  • Current license in the country of origin, with DOH License to practice in Dubai.
  • The ability to apply technical skills, together with a demonstrable knowledge of and interest in sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, and physics.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Spoken Arabic is advantageous but not essential.
  • At least three years experience.
  • A supportive and caring disposition.
  • Adaptability and good time management skills.
  • Team working ability.
  • Confidence in dealing with stressful situations.
  • IT competencies.
