Responsibilities:
- Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and field testing, piling.
- Analyze soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to assess risks and provide recommendations.
- Ensure proper execution of geotechnical testing programs in line with project requirements.
- Supervise geotechnical works, such as excavation, foundation preparation, ground improvement, and slope stabilization.
- Provide on-site technical solutions for geotechnical challenges encountered during construction.
- Ensure that geotechnical works comply with project specifications and standards.
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports on geotechnical activities.
- Ensure inspection checklists and frequency of inspections are reviewed and approved by the Project Manager/Resident Engineer and a clear forward plan and programme for such inspections are developed. Also, ensure all completed inspection checklists, reports & recommendations are issued for record and performance review purposes.
- Ensure safe working practices including compliance with Permits to Work system & DAR Standard Operating Procedures are implemented by Contractors and Subcontractors staff at all times.
- Inspect the on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project and organize field/laboratory tests to ascertain their compliance with the specifications and determine its acceptability for use on the project.
- Liaise with the Resident Engineer for the effective implementation of the quality management systems and site supervision provision activities.
- Ensure compliance with local and international geotechnical and construction standards.
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience or a similar role in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, foundation engineering, and ground improvement techniques.
Familiarity with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) and field testing equipment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
