Senior Technical Safety Engineer

Senior Technical Safety Engineer Wood is recruiting for a Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our team in Sharjah, UAE. This is a full‑time office‑based role with business trips. Responsibilities Contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through executing assigned scopes of work, providing discipline expertise to the business, and supporting and supervising task delegation to a team. Using technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems. Representing a significant portion of larger projects, selecting engineering techniques to solve problems and making design recommendations. Applying specific area(s) of expertise in own discipline area and reviewing and managing complex projects within area of expertise. Participating in audits, incident investigations, site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and workshops. Adhering to relevant discipline specific procedures and providing feedback for continuous improvement. Providing technical input and support to proposals as required. Key Objectives Executing assigned scopes of work. Providing discipline expertise. Supporting and supervising task delegation to the team. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Participate as a team member in specific phases of broad engineering assignments. Direct preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects. Ensure successful completion of assigned projects within budgeted time and cost constraints. Define engineering approaches, plan and schedule work. Evaluate problems, organize investigations and establish general performance specifications. Check engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards. Assist in developing lesser‑experienced technical professionals. Engage in audits and incident investigations as required. Participate in site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and workshops. Supervise small work groups, assign tasks to engineers, plan and coordinate budgets and resources. Qualifications B.Sc. or equivalent engineering degree from an accredited university. Minimum 10+ years relevant experience in major brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least 5 years in a similar position. Specific experience in oil and gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region (preferred). Pre‑FEED and FEED experience required. Detailed engineering experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineers. Strong problem‑solving and recommendation skills for technical and commercial issues. Proficient in relevant software and calculation templates. Professional level knowledge of applicable codes and standards. Continuous professional development commitment. Strong communication, negotiation and persuasion skills.
