Overview Job Title: Risk Manager - Agri Commodities (Grains) Department: Market Risk About the Role: Our client is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to lead and enhance their company-wide risk framework, strategy, and policies. This role will oversee operational, financial, and enterprise risk identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring that all risks are effectively managed within internal policies, regulatory requirements, and market realities. Responsibilities Lead the development and continuous improvement of the risk framework, strategy, and policies. Regularly review and update Trading, Shipping, and Hedging Manuals to reflect industry regulations and market trends, educating stakeholders on changes. Develop, maintain, and update the Risk Register for all financial, operational, and enterprise risks, including suggested mitigation strategies. Define Risk Limits and Thresholds (Risk Appetite), obtain management approval, and ensure strict adherence. Escalate breaches with recommended mitigation actions. Conduct thorough counterparty appraisals, categorize risk levels, and escalate high-risk exposures. Perform risk analyses for new products or market entries to ensure comprehensive risk coverage. Monitor market developments, including price volatility, geopolitical events, and other factors, providing daily updates and actionable mitigation recommendations. Implement and manage physical hedging strategies via Futures, Options, and OTC products, incorporating mark-to-market practices to optimize returns and minimize losses. Lead the implementation of the Trading Risk Management System and ensure effective utilization. Ensure departmental policies, procedures, and systems comply with ISO standards. Stay updated on the latest risk management developments and best practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Trading; Risk Management certification preferred. 8–10 years of post-qualification experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial role in a medium to large agri-commodity trading organization. Proven ability to identify and resolve business risks efficiently. Strong understanding of agri-commodity markets, operational controls, data security, fraud prevention, and business continuity. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Behavioral Competencies Expert in trust-building, analysis, communication, persuasion, planning, organization, and results orientation. Advanced skills in innovation, leadership, strategic thinking, managing ambiguity and complexities, and interpersonal relationships. Courageous in decision-making and challenging assumptions when required.
