Job Description: Our Middle East organization consists of various sites in the region. At our head office in Dubai, we now have a challenging opportunity for a Regional HSE Manager.

The main goal of this role is to coordinate and support all HSE and sustainability matters within the Middle East region. Responsibilities include advising management on relevant corporate and legal requirements, analyzing and reporting HSE performance as well as identifying strategic initiatives and objectives.

The role reports to the Operations Director AkzoNobel Middle East.

Main tasks and responsibilities are:
  1. Recommending and supporting regional HSE/CSR initiatives including BBS (Behaviour Based Safety).
  2. Maintain focus on Life Saving Rules and further development of local procedures and training.
  3. Facilitate HSE training for Critical Leaders using the AkzoNobel Faculty.
  4. Ensure progress/auditing versus the SAQ (self-assessment questionnaires) requirements.
  5. Ensure BBS is fully embedded.
  6. Providing leadership and direction for country HSE professionals.
  7. Ensuring HSE programmes/initiatives are implemented; target significant HSE risks within the business.
  8. Assisting sites in their preparations for corporate HSE audits.
  9. Ensuring a regional HSE auditing programme is in place/all sites are audited on an annual basis.
  10. Ensuring regional audits are coordinated, suitable auditors identified, findings published and tracked.
  11. Supporting sites in correctly/effectively investigating accidents and identifying associated corrective actions.
  12. Ensuring relevant (Corporate) HSE KPI's are reported per location and the consolidated information analyzed and communicated to management.
  13. Working closely with IMS staff throughout the region, to ensure HSE is correctly incorporated into local documented management systems.
  14. Ensuring HSE issues are fully considered in new investments and Management of Change procedures.

Job Skills

The successful candidate has a graduate degree in Business/a Technical subject and an HSE related qualification (i.e NEBOSH). You have at least 4 years experience in a similar role in an industry environment. You have experience working in a multicultural, multi-site and matrix organisation structure. You are a confident and clear communicator with excellent people skills. You have experience with change and project management. Your English language skills are excellent as you will be interacting with company employees at all levels. Arabic will be a distinct advantage. You are fully conversant with MS Office. The role involves frequent travel around the Middle East region. A local driving licence would be useful.
