Senior Civil Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our team at a leading engineering consultancy firm. This role is site-based and will focus on managing the civil engineering aspects of large-scale healthcare construction projects , ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, time, and quality parameters. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in healthcare construction projects , along with a strong background in site management, design coordination, and project execution. Familiarity with the specific requirements of healthcare facilities—including regulatory compliance, specialized infrastructure, and coordination with medical planning teams—is essential. As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will oversee site activities, supervise civil works, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the seamless integration of civil systems within healthcare environments. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with local regulations, health and safety standards, and project specifications tailored to healthcare facilities. Key Responsibilities Supervise and manage all civil engineering activities on-site, ensuring full compliance with design, specifications, and construction standards specific to healthcare projects. Coordinate and oversee the implementation of civil works including excavation, foundations, drainage, access roads, pavements, and specialized healthcare infrastructure. Conduct site inspections and provide technical oversight for quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), especially related to the stringent requirements of healthcare environments. Review and validate civil engineering designs and shop drawings, ensuring accuracy and alignment with healthcare project specifications and medical facility standards. Collaborate closely with structural, mechanical, electrical, and medical equipment planning teams to ensure coordinated and integrated project delivery. Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly site reports on progress, issues, risk mitigation, and resource management. Guide and mentor junior engineers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to healthcare design criteria and civil engineering best practices. Maintain accurate site records, logs, and documentation as per regulatory and client requirements. Review and approve method statements and risk assessments related to civil works in active or sensitive healthcare settings. Liaise with clients, healthcare consultants, contractors, and authorities to resolve technical challenges and meet project milestones. Ensure adherence to rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards, with a focus on infection control and patient safety during construction. Support procurement and material logistics, ensuring availability of approved materials suitable for healthcare facilities. Participate in construction planning and scheduling to ensure efficient delivery of healthcare projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution. 15+ years of experience in civil engineering , with at least 5 years in a senior site-based role on healthcare construction projects . Proven track record managing large-scale healthcare construction projects such as hospitals, clinics, or medical campuses. In-depth understanding of civil works requirements unique to healthcare facilities, including infection control, access planning, medical infrastructure, and compliance with health authorities. Strong knowledge of local and international building codes, with a particular focus on those applicable to healthcare facilities. Experience in reviewing and coordinating civil engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for healthcare environments. Proficient in civil engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software. Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors. Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in high‑sensitivity healthcare environments where safety and precision are critical. Solid understanding of construction safety protocols, with a focus on healthcare‑specific requirements. Familiarity with FIDIC or other standard construction contract frameworks. Excellent communication and coordination skills with experience engaging clients, consultants, and healthcare stakeholders. Membership in a recognized professional engineering organization is preferred.
