  • Responsiblefor setting own project deadlines.
  • Provides onthe job training to new employees.
  • Responsiblefor monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications,and/or code requirements by performing inspectionduties.
  • Performs daily field inspections andmaintains inspection records.
  • Participates inpunch lists, testing, and commissioning.
  • Tracksquality assurance progress.
  • Provides input todocumentation for area and equipmentturnovers.

MinimumQualification

TechnicalInstitute Diploma in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civiletc.)

1. Knowledge of MaterialProperties

  • MaterialScience : Understanding the physical and chemicalproperties of different materials, such as metals, concrete, wood,plastics, and composites.
  • Knowledge of howmaterials behave under stress, temperature, and other environmentalconditions.
  • Recognizing the suitableapplication of materials based on their properties (e.g., tensilestrength, corrosion resistance, thermalconductivity).

2.Quality Control andAssurance

  • Ensuring thatmaterials meet the required industry standards, codes, andspecifications (e.g., ASTM, ISO,EN).
  • Familiarity with quality control methodslike sampling ,testing , and inspectionprotocols .
  • Conducting visualinspections and quality checks to identify defects such as cracks,surface irregularities, andcontamination.

3.Testing and InspectionTechniques

  • Usingtesting methods to assess material properties, suchas:
    • CompressionTesting (for concrete orsteel).
    • TensileTesting (for metals andpolymers).
    • ImpactTesting (for toughnessevaluation).
    • UltrasonicTesting or X-rayTesting (for detecting internalflaws).
  • Conducting fieldtests, such as slump tests for concrete or moisture content testsfor soils and aggregates.
  • Usingnon-destructive testing (NDT)techniques to assess materials without causingdamage.

4. Familiaritywith ConstructionStandards

  • Knowledge ofconstruction material standards such as ACI (AmericanConcrete Institute) , ASTM (AmericanSociety for Testing and Materials) , andISO for differentmaterials.
  • Understanding industry-specificstandards for materials used in roads, bridges, buildings, andinfrastructure projects.
  • Ensuring materialsconform to safety standards and regulations (e.g., fire resistance,environmental impact).

5.Documentation andReporting

  • Maintainingdetailed records of inspections, test results, and materialcertifications.
  • Preparing inspection reports,quality assurance documentation, and compliancecertifications.
  • Ensuring that all materials areproperly labeled and tracked fortraceability.

6.Health, Safety, and EnvironmentalAwareness

  • Knowledge ofsafety regulations regarding handling hazardous or sensitivematerials (e.g., asbestos, chemicals, or hazardouswaste).
  • Ensuring materials are stored andhandled in accordance with safety standards to prevent accidentsand contamination.
  • Understanding theenvironmental impact of materials, including recyclability andsustainability considerations.
