SILK ROUTE RECRUITMENT is on the lookout for a dynamic Category Procurement Leader to spearhead their menswear division, managing a substantial portfolio valued at $100 million.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to operate in a global capacity, reporting directly to the Head of Procurement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate comprehensive multi-product procurement strategies and budget allocations for each season within the menswear category.
  • Ensure alignment of procurement strategies with the overarching business objectives and merchandising framework established by the leadership team.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design department to guarantee that the product offerings are commercially viable, trend-conscious, and comprehensive.
  • Oversee the development of range plans to ensure both relevance and cost efficiency.
  • Drive continuous enhancements in procurement processes by minimizing lead times, improving profit margins, and proactively addressing potential bottlenecks.
  • Coordinate with planning and cross-functional teams to ensure optimal product management, ensuring the right products are available at the right time and in appropriate quantities.
  • Accountable for achieving sales and profit targets for the menswear category, which includes timely procurement of merchandise and effective stock management.
  • Manage critical path timelines to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with vendors and suppliers to secure capacity and negotiate favorable pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Provide insights to the sourcing team regarding group and departmental sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with product specifications and company processes in collaboration with the sourcing department.
  • Conduct regular visits to stores within the territory to gather feedback and benchmark against competitors regarding product ranges, quality, and pricing.
  • Stay updated on the latest fashion trends in procurement and apply this knowledge during the range development process.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the retail sector, specifically in a procurement leadership role, preferably within the UK or Europe in a large retail or brand environment.
  • In-depth product knowledge in menswear procurement.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to manage an international team and embrace innovative ideas and methodologies.
  • A global perspective, with the capacity to identify emerging markets and trends.
  • A strong commercial acumen, with a competitive edge and a keen understanding of product dynamics and market economics.
  • A broad skill set in management, particularly within complex organizational structures.
