Job Description

This role will be working closely with the Planning Lead/Manager in Projects and take responsibility for resource planning, leveling, and progress monitoring for projects. The successful candidate will assist and take major responsibilities on proposals planning during the tendering stage. Functionally reporting to the General Manager, the candidate will be responsible for budgeting, cost estimation, and cash flow analysis. The role will also involve managing project work approvals, cost control, and invoicing procedures to customers/clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare Master and Construction schedules.
  2. Generate monthly, weekly, and daily reports on operational activities.
  3. Develop an internal schedule to track major milestones and achieve project completion dates.
  4. Generate analysis reports, S-curves, and narrative reports for client and management review.
  5. Monitor and update project schedules on a weekly and monthly basis.
  6. Establish a Progress Measurement System (PMS) and prepare Deliverable Status Registers.
  7. Coordinate work between inter-discipline teams and subcontractors.
  8. Identify and respond to project risks.
  9. Plan and coordinate resources, materials, and manpower.
  10. Perform critical path analysis.
  11. Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).
  12. Develop and update resource histograms weekly or monthly as required.
  13. Prepare project cash flow and actual comparisons.
  14. Prepare look-ahead schedules.
  15. Analyze planned progress vs. actual progress.
  16. Prepare recovery schedules to catch up on completion dates.
  17. Prepare Progress Payment Certificates (PPC) and Request for Invoices (RFI).
  18. Analyze actual costs vs. control budgets during all project phases, maintain budget at completion forecasts.
  19. Work closely with Project Managers, Sr. Project Engineers, and manage project work approval processes in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals.
  20. Determine forecast final costs based on available information, quantities, and unit rates, and produce and issue updates on project cost forecasts and report to Project Management and General Manager.
  21. Produce Project Planning closeout reports and Productivity calculations.
  22. Prepare project claims and extension of time (EOT).

Requirements:

  1. Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical) with 7 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  2. Experience in MEP projects in the UAE or Middle East.
  3. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Planning Engineer on medium to large-scale projects in similar businesses or industries.
  4. Experience with cost estimating software and tools.
  5. Excellent knowledge of Primavera.

Skills & Professional Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing project planning packages, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and other Microsoft applications. They will also have a strong understanding of WBS, CBS structure, and project reporting capabilities. Additionally, they will have excellent knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost management, change control, and risk analysis and management.
