\Job Description
\- Embody and promote the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Support the teacher with reading-related activities, including assisting with literacy programs and providing one-on-one support to students.
- Lead small group activities inside or outside the classroom, as directed by the teacher, to promote social skills, teamwork, and creativity.
- Prepare and maintain a well-organized classroom environment, including setting up displays and materials for lessons.
- Assist with photocopying documents, preparing worksheets, and other administrative tasks as requested by the teacher.
- In emergency situations, cover the class for short periods to ensure continuity of learning.
- Take charge of stocking and distributing educational materials, maintaining the classroom's appearance, and adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Care for students' personal needs, such as taking them to the toilet and changing/cleaning them when necessary.
- Develop knowledge of relevant curriculum areas, including literacy, numeracy, and phonetics, to provide effective support to students.
- Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times, maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Pursue additional commitments beyond regular working hours to support the school's goals and objectives.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to committees as required, fostering a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
Requirements
\- A good level of general education, with a strong foundation in mathematics and English.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to write and speak fluently in English.
- Demonstrated ICT skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
- The capacity to build strong relationships with colleagues and children, promoting a positive and supportive school environment.
- Previous experience as a teaching assistant or working with children is highly desirable.
Working Terms
\This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday (7:15am-2:45pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 7:15am-12pm on Fridays). The role is term-time only, allowing for a healthy work-life balance and opportunities to recharge outside of the academic year.
