Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management: Provide management, leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of logistics professionals, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Logistics Operations: Manage logistics operations for an area or region, including arranging inbound and outbound transportation to meet operational needs.
- Contract Management: Oversee contract management and execution, including negotiating, setting price levels, and approving significant contracts with logistics service providers.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement logistics strategies aligned with regional initiatives, ensuring they meet the company's overall goals.
- Performance Analysis: Analyze data over long periods to identify trends and forecast future movement of goods internationally, taking into account legal and customs requirements.
- Team Development: Provide inputs and guidance to the finance and accounting departments for forecasting and develop the skills of team members to ensure they can perform their duties effectively.
- Managerial Functions: Perform various managerial functions, including interviewing applicants, training employees, directing and apportioning subordinate work, setting hours of work, appraising subordinate work performance, disciplining subordinates, recommending increases in compensation for subordinates, and handling employee grievances.
- Decision Making: Make decisions regarding the hiring and firing of employees, ensuring they align with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Information Systems, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8-10 years of experience in a related field of logistics, including all transport modes (Ocean, Air, or Land), including hazardous cargo movements.
- Knowledge of Incoterms and their impact.
- Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Strong problem-solving and strategic planning skills.
