About the Role

Careers International is seeking a highly skilled Estimation Manager - Construction to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for estimating the costs associated with construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Project Evaluation: Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope, requirements, and constraints.
  2. Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various aspects of the project, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
  3. Quantity Takeoff: Quantify and take off the required quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for construction.
  4. Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Obtain quotes and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive prices for materials and services.
  5. Budgeting: Develop and manage project budgets, including forecasting and tracking costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Value Engineering: Suggest alternative materials or construction methods that can provide cost savings without compromising quality.
  7. Bid Preparation: Prepare and submit bids for construction projects in response to tenders or RFPs.
  8. Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may affect project costs and develop contingency plans.
  9. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely cost information.
  10. Cost Reporting: Provide regular reports on estimated costs, actual costs, and any variances between the two.
Requirements
  1. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and processes.
  2. Quantitative Skills: Proficient in mathematics and able to perform accurate quantity takeoffs and cost calculations.
  3. Estimation Software: Familiarity with specialized software such as PlanSwift and pre-contracting software.
  4. Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and understandable manner.
  5. Analytical Thinking: Capable of analyzing project details, plans, and specifications to make accurate estimations.
  6. Negotiation Skills: Able to negotiate prices with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best deals.
  7. Attention to Detail: Precision is crucial in estimating costs accurately.
  8. Time Management: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  9. Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  10. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and address potential cost-related issues.
Education and Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is typically required.
  • Previous experience in estimating or related roles in the construction industry is highly beneficial.
