Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Librarian Specialist I to join our team at the United Arab Emirates University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional reference and research services to our students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reference Services: Provide accurate and timely reference assistance to patrons, including answering research questions, locating materials, and providing instruction on the use of library resources.
  • Collection Development: Assist in the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of library materials, including books, journals, and other resources.
  • Circulation Services: Assist with the circulation of library materials, including checking out and returning books, and resolving any issues related to borrowing and lending.
  • Shelving and Organization: Maintain the organization and shelving of library materials, including books, journals, and other resources.
  • Interlibrary Loan: Process interlibrary loan requests, including verifying citations and retrieving materials from other libraries.
  • Statistics and Reporting: Maintain accurate statistics on reference and directional questions, and provide regular reports to management.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a library setting, preferably in a public service role.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in English language, accuracy in searching information, knowledge of reference sources, and ability to work in a team environment.
