Job Description:

Parsons Oman is seeking a highly skilled Material Engineer to join our team in Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Region, UAE.

This role involves monitoring, inspecting, coordinating, and documenting all project materials to ensure compliance with contract requirements and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Material Submittals and Approvals: Review contractor-submitted materials and obtain necessary approvals in accordance with applicable standards and project specifications.
  • Scheduling and Control: Serve as the focal point for scheduling and controlling construction materials and equipment at the job site.
  • Inspections and Quality Control: Conduct inspections to verify that work is performed in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Subconsultant Coordination: Coordinate work of subconsultants for material testing.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain office files related to the project, material inspections, and write daily diaries. Prepare daily reports and other documentation as required by the contract.
  • Material Verification: Verify that only approved materials are incorporated into the work.
  • Conflict Resolution: Recognize potential conflicts, issues, and problems related to construction materials and report to the supervisor with proposed solutions.
  • Material Management: Collect, review, and file Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags, and other relevant information related to materials used.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to lower-level personnel.
  • Safety and Quality: Participate in the development of job safety practices and safety reports. Participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
  • Mathematical Calculations: Perform mathematical calculations to prepare engineering calculations, graphs, and charts.
  • Work Execution: Observe, check, and record work execution to ensure compliance with approved methods.
  • Material Storage: Check that materials delivered are approved and properly stored.
Requirements:
  • Education: University BSc Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience and, depending on the assignment, a minimum of 5 years' experience in specific roads and infrastructure works.
  • Experience: Experience in the construction of infrastructure and road projects at domestic and/or foreign locations.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications. Must be thoroughly familiar with construction-related processes. Knowledge of English grammar and composition, ability to communicate clearly, and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Certifications: Must be registered as a practicing engineer in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi or have an equivalency certificate.
