About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Housekeeping Attendant to join our team at IHG Hotels & Resorts. As a Housekeeping Attendant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the cleanliness and comfort of our guests' rooms and public areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and service assigned rooms or areas according to established standards and procedures, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning, and sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash/rubbish, etc.
  • Safety and Security: Wear safety protection equipment as provided in line with department regulations and any local legislative requirements, handle and store chemicals in line with hotel regulations and any local legislative requirements.
  • Guest Interaction: Greet and acknowledge guests, notify supervisor when service is complete so rooms may be sold or occupied, report any room unable to be serviced to supervisor according to established procedures.
  • Reporting and Communication: Report to supervisor the needed repairs or unsafe conditions, immediately report any health and safety incident, security breaches, concerns or suspicious behaviour to the supervisor or manager on duty.
  • Supply Management: Monitor and control supplies and amenities and minimize waste within all areas of housekeeping, report, turn in, and/or log all lost and found items according to established procedures.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Work as part of a team and communicate with other departments as per hotel procedures to ensure excellent quality and service, assist guests and escort them to locations within the hotel at their requests.
  • Quality and Standards: Ensure working knowledge of all hotel's public areas, ensure cleaning schedules are completed in a routine and timely manner, recycle where possible.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with guests and colleagues, fluency in the English language is essential.
  • Literacy and Technical Skills: Literate and tech-savvy, with a good grasp of reading, writing, basic maths, and computers, especially our reservations system, Opera.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts, a high school diploma or qualification is required, a college or university degree would be a bonus.
  • Experience and Skills: Ideally, you'll have spent at least two years in a guest service position in a 5-star property, ability to work independently and within a team environment.
