Zoological Animal Trainer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wildlife Care Specialist to join our team at Worldwide Zoo. As a key member of our Life Sciences Department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional animal care and training to our diverse collection of birds and mammals.

• Animal Training and Enrichment: Develop and implement training programs using positive reinforcement and operant conditioning techniques to ensure the highest level of animal welfare and well-being.
• Habitat Maintenance and Cleaning: Ensure that animal habitats meet the needs of the animals, and perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
• Animal Health and Behavior Observation: Monitor animal health and behavior, and identify any potential concerns or issues that may require veterinary attention.
• Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic records of animal health, behavior, and training progress.
• Team Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other team members to ensure seamless animal care and training operations, and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to address any concerns or issues.
• Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Respond to emergency situations in a calm and professional manner, and take necessary steps to minimize damage, loss, or injury to guests, team members, animals, or company property.

• 4+ years of experience in animal behavioral training and care
• Strong knowledge of animal training principles and techniques, including operant conditioning
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
• Competency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
