About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Automation Engineer to join our team at Wood. As a key member of our Instrumentation and Controls team, you will play a critical role in the design and implementation of Instrumentation & Control for oil & gas and process industry projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in I&C or Automation Engineering projects for the design and implementation of Instrumentation & Control for oil & gas and process industry projects.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Hookups, Level Sketch, Inst. Location Layouts, Cable Tray layouts, Control room layouts, Cable and Junction Box Schedule, Wiring and Interconnection drawings, Instruments and Fittings.
  • Design and develop Functional loop schematics, Loop Wiring Diagram, Shutdown narratives and Logic Diagrams.
  • Support tender and CAPEX activities.
  • Participate in Inter-Disciplinary Activities P&ID review and update, 3-D Model review.
  • Participate in HAZOP / SIL Reviews.
  • Develop and maintain hands-on experience following design Calculations; Inst. Sizing Control Valve Sizing (InstruCalc, CONVAL), Flow meter sizing, Safety valve sizing, Air and power consumption calculations, Intrinsic safety validation calculation, Thermowell Wake freq. calculations.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Instrument Selection - All types of field instruments. Exposure to selection of instruments and systems for Hazardous areas.
  • Develop and maintain experience in preparation / review / approval of min. following procurement deliverables; Material Requisition, TBE, Purchase Requisition and Vendor Drawing Review and approvals.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Control Systems DCS, ESD (SIS), PLCs, package control systems, Fire & Gas systems (FGS).
  • Must have worked as Lead Instrumentation Engineer for mid to large scale Petrochemical / Oil & Gas projects.
  • Estimate engineering efforts, monitor and control departmental cost and schedule.
  • Attend and support site surveys, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT's), Site Acceptance Test (SAT's) and commissioning activities for delivered systems.
  • Review, comment, and provide input on the project schedule and project cost estimate.
  • Support procurement with vendors lists development, requisition development, technical bid tabulations and clarifications, purchase recommendations, monitor progress and maintain communications with vendors as required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree B.E./B-Tech is required, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Instrumentation & Controls, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical, Computer Science.
  • Must have between 5- and 12-years' I&C experience.
  • Experience with an operating company, systems vendor, or engineering services provider for the onshore or offshore oil & gas and/or energy industry, is preferred.
  • Experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) hardware, network architecture, integration, configuration and programming, industrial protocols, HMI Graphics and databases, and SCADA System configuration and installations is an added advantage.
  • Proficient knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, MS Teams, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, clients, and vendors.
