Mechanical Inspector

GHD is seeking a skilled Mechanical Inspector to join our team. As a Mechanical Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Surveillance and Validation: Conduct regular surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade. Validate piping systems, including P&ID checks and hydraulic or other pressure tests.
- Equipment Alignment and Balancing: Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations. Participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
- Contractual Obligations: Assist the Mechanical Engineer or MEP Lead in performing contractual duties on site. Interface with the public, especially residents and business owners adjacent to the work, to mitigate construction impacts.
- Quality Control and Assurance: Oversee and inspect all mechanical work to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality control standards. Follow-up with contractors and support in coordinating with utility authorities regarding connections whenever required.
- Project Quality Control: Ensure that project quality control procedures are used for construction supervision works and monitor them for improvement. Monitor and coordinate all contractors' activities for this discipline.
- Works Inspection and Material Inspection: Perform works inspection requests and material inspection requests on a daily basis. Support the Mechanical Engineer in reviewing construction submittals from project inception to close-out.
- Technical Problem-Solving: Collaborate with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees. Review and interpret discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and correct technical execution of the work.
- Material Procurement and Delivery: Monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline. Ensure that materials received meet specifications and established standards of quality.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Organize the accumulation of assigned discipline data for the final project turnover and report. Initiate and maintain records, backcharge procedures, progress reports, etc., as required.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of mechanical systems and quality control procedures. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
