As the Director of Inclusion and Special Education, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to support students with special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management
- Lead a team of educators and support staff to provide high-quality support to students with special educational needs.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve outcomes for students with special educational needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Professional Development
- Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and support staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in special education.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support they need.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure that students with special educational needs are supported across all aspects of school life.
Requirements
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or relevant postgraduate qualification.
- Master's degree in SEN desirable.
- Experience
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of SEN.
- Skills and Knowledge
- Evidence of implementing strategic initiatives and impact within a school.
- Demonstrated expertise in leading a special education or inclusion team.
- Experience in maintaining accurate and meaningful SEN registers and developing high-quality IEPs and intervention plans.
- Capacity to identify a range of need types and/or development delays.
- Experience in administering standardized assessments to inform provision.
- Experience in delivering a range of specific intervention programmes and be confident in the measures needed to prove effectiveness.
- Proven capacity to utilize data to monitor and track SoD progress and attainment.
- To be approachable, professional, calm and knowledgeable.
- To be able to deal professionally with a range of stakeholders.
- Passion for teaching and commitment to educating and nurturing children.
- A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
- Warmth, empathy, credibility, self-belief, integrity, drive and child-centred.
- Ability to lead and manage a team.
