Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Management
    • Lead a team of educators and support staff to provide high-quality support to students with special educational needs.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve outcomes for students with special educational needs.
    • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Professional Development
    • Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and support staff to enhance their knowledge and skills in supporting students with special educational needs.
    • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in special education.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support they need.

Requirements

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or relevant postgraduate qualification.
    • Master's degree in SEN desirable.
  • Experience
    • A minimum of 3 years' experience in the field of SEN.
  • Skills and Knowledge
    • Evidence of implementing strategic initiatives and impact within a school.
    • Demonstrated expertise in leading a special education or inclusion team.
    • Experience in maintaining accurate and meaningful SEN registers and developing high-quality IEPs and intervention plans.
    • Capacity to identify a range of need types and/or development delays.
    • Experience in administering standardized assessments to inform provision.
    • Experience in delivering a range of specific intervention programmes and be confident in the measures needed to prove effectiveness.
    • Proven capacity to utilize data to monitor and track SoD progress and attainment.
    • To be approachable, professional, calm and knowledgeable.
    • To be able to deal professionally with a range of stakeholders.
    • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating and nurturing children.
    • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children.
    • Warmth, empathy, credibility, self-belief, integrity, drive and child-centred.
    • Ability to lead and manage a team.
