About the Role

CIPS is seeking an experienced Sustainability Director to lead its sustainability efforts globally.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability, ESG, or corporate social responsibility, and will be able to develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with business objectives.

The Sustainability Director will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership for all sustainability initiatives across CIPS globally.
  • Representing CIPS in external and internal forums, including conferences and forums on Sustainability and the wider ESG agenda.
  • Developing/implementing CIPS Sustainability strategy.
Main Responsibilities:Sustainability Strategy & Implementation

The Sustainability Director will be responsible for:

  • Establishing sustainability goals, KPIs, and frameworks to measure progress and impact.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Driving initiatives to improve energy efficiency, waste reduction, carbon footprint minimisation, and sustainable sourcing.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration

The Sustainability Director will engage with various stakeholders, including:

  • Representing CIPS in external discussions on Sustainability and the wider ESG agenda.
  • Working with internal teams to embed sustainability into CIPS processes.
  • Fostering sustainable partnerships with suppliers, members, regulators, and community partners.
  • Driving employee engagement and training programs on sustainability best practices.
Key Requirements:

To be successful in this role, the Sustainability Director will need:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable professional experience in sustainability, ESG, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks, ESG reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
