Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation to patients. This involves responding to emergency calls, assessing patients, administering appropriate medical treatment, and ensuring the safe transport of patients to healthcare facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to emergency calls as dispatched, arriving at the scene quickly and safely.
Conduct scene size-up to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury, performing initial and ongoing assessments of patients to determine medical conditions.
Administer basic life support (BLS) procedures, including CPR, AED usage, airway management, and bleeding control, providing appropriate pre-hospital emergency medical care following DOH protocols.
Safely transport patients to healthcare facilities, communicating with medical staff during transport to ensure continuity of care, maintaining patient safety and comfort during transport.
Complete accurate and detailed patient care reports (PCRs) and other required documentation, reporting observations and treatments provided to receiving medical staff.
Ensure that the ambulance and equipment are clean, stocked, and in good working order, conducting routine checks and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
Participate in continuing education and training to maintain DOH certification and stay updated on medical practices, attending mandatory meetings and training sessions as required by the employer.
Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and protocols, including DOH standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and following health guidelines, following safety procedures to minimize risk to patients, oneself, and others.
