Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Safety Strategies: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement technical safety strategies and policies that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct thorough risk assessments, hazard identification (HAZID), and hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) to identify and mitigate potential risks associated with our oil and gas operations.
- Perform Quantitative Risk Assessments: Conduct quantitative risk assessments (QRA) and develop safety cases for various oil and gas facilities to ensure the safety of personnel, assets, and the environment.
- Review and Approve Safety Designs: Review and approve safety designs and technical documents to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Develop HSE Philosophy and Plans: Develop and implement the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Philosophy for projects and operations, and create and maintain the HSE Plan outlining safety procedures, responsibilities, and compliance measures.
- Conduct Hazardous Area Classification: Conduct Hazardous Area Classification and prepare the Hazardous Area Classification Schedule to ensure safe equipment selection and installation.
- Develop Fire and Gas Systems: Develop and implement Fire and Gas (F&G) Philosophy to guide the design and operation of fire and gas detection and mitigation systems, and oversee the creation of F&G Layouts to ensure proper coverage and functionality.
- Lead Safety Audits and Investigations: Lead safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations to identify underlying issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations, including conducting safety audits and inspections.
- Deliver Safety Training: Deliver safety training and awareness programs to staff and contractors to promote a strong safety culture.
- Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Liaise with regulatory bodies, industry partners, and stakeholders to ensure alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor Safety Performance: Monitor safety performance metrics and report on safety trends, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Safety Engineering; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in technical safety engineering within the oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge and Skills: Extensive knowledge of safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to oil and gas operations, proven expertise in risk assessment methodologies, and strong understanding of process safety management and safety instrumented systems.
- Communication and Leadership: Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and ability to present technical safety information clearly to diverse audiences.
