Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Resident Engineer or MEP Lead in performing contractual duties on site, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  2. Provide resolution for technical engineering problems within assigned disciplines, coordinating application of solutions to ensure progress on site.
  3. Advise the project manager of any technical aspects of electrical services that may affect construction progress, quality, and the like.
  4. Continually review contractor's construction schedule during the progress of site works, identifying potential delays or issues.
  5. Review construction submittals from project inception to close-out, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  6. Review contractor's installation method statements, verifying adherence to design intent and project requirements.
  7. Review contractor's shop drawings against design (tender) drawings for compliance with design intent and return to project manager with appropriate comments/approval.
  8. Review contractor's electrical shop drawings in conjunction with structural and mechanical engineers to ensure engineering coordination and advise project manager accordingly.
  9. Review contractor's electrical services material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise project manager on appropriateness of proposals.
  10. Review contractor's proposed subcontractors associated with electrical engineering works from a technical standpoint.
  11. Monitor material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within assigned discipline.
  12. Undertake general project site observation/inspection of electrical services works for contractor's adherence to approved shop drawings and consultant's specifications, good working practices, the construction schedule, and health & safety.
  13. Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by project manager.
  14. Undertake prior review of contractor's proposed electrical system testing & commissioning methods and schedule.
  15. Witness on-site piped system pressure tests, air conditioning duct leakage testing, and other testing that may be required during first fix works and advise project manager accordingly.
  16. On a spot basis, witness electrical system final testing and commissioning.
  17. Review and comment on contractor's testing and commissioning results and advise project manager accordingly.
  18. Prepare an ongoing list of electrical services defects for contractor's remedial action.
  19. Undertake final project snagging and prepare a list of defects for contractor's action.
  20. Attend project, site progress, and any electrical services-related technical meetings as directed by project manager.
  21. Prepare draft site/engineer's instructions relating to building electrical services, as required, and issue to project manager.
  22. Provide advice to project manager regarding any electrical services-related variation costs that may be claimed by contractor during course of works.
  23. Review and comment upon contractor's Operation and Maintenance manuals.
  24. Oversee junior engineers and inspectors for all electrical work and ensure that installation activities comply with contractual obligations and quality control standards.
  25. Follow up with contractor and support in coordinating with utility authority regarding connections whenever required.
