Job Summary

Covanta is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) department, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Facility Permit Management: Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of facility permits, plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Audit Package Review: Review and update facility audit packages to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Compliance Support: Provide technical support to ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, ASME, and NPPA regulations, as well as EPA Clean Water Act and RCRA requirements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Sales and Marketing personnel, Account Executives, and Customer Service Representatives, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development of EH&S policies and procedures that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training and development programs to enhance knowledge and skills in environmental compliance and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in a science or engineering field, or a related degree.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a safety and/or environmental professional role, with a focus on compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to read and interpret documents, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Travel: Ability to travel as required to support business needs.
