Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing complex medical problems by referring to a patient's history, examining them, and conducting neurological tests.
  • Patient Counseling: Counseling patients on neurological disorders and their background.
  • Test Interpretation: Ordering neurological tests and interpreting the results of neuroimaging studies.
  • Prescription and Medication: Prescribing and/or administering treatment and medication.
  • Monitoring Side Effects: Monitoring the behavioral and cognitive side effects of treatment and medication.
  • Social Support: Ordering supportive care services for patients.
  • Research Participation: Participating in neuroscience research activities.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Liaising with medical professionals in the community and hospitals.
  • Professional Development: Keeping up-to-date with neurological developments, treatments, and medication.
  • Treatment Specializations: Performing specialized treatments such as sleep disorders, neuroimmunology, neuro-oncology, behavioral neurology, and neurogenetics.
  • Diagnostic Testing: Performing and interpreting lumbar punctures, electroencephalography, electromyography, and nerve conduction velocity tests.
Qualifications
  • Education: Degree in medicine (essential).
  • Certification: Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Training: 3 years of specialty training in an accredited neurology residency program.
  • Licensure: Current state medical license.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience practicing as a Neurologist.
  • Skill Set: Fantastic counseling and listening skills, superb organizational and time management skills, excellent decision-making skills and communication.
  • Additional Skills: Fantastic research skills, outstanding practical and diagnostic skills, great management and leadership skills.
