Position Overview

The GIS Specialist plays a crucial role in the effective management and analysis of geospatial data. This position requires a solid educational background and extensive experience in the field.

Key Qualifications
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics Engineering, Surveying Engineering, or a related field is essential.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is necessary.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in GIS software applications and programming is mandatory, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Core Competencies
  • Advanced skills in one or more GIS software packages, including capabilities in scripting, programming, modeling, and design.
  • Ability to design and maintain GIS databases and other data formats, such as Microsoft Access and dBase.
  • Strong proficiency in cartography and map design, including knowledge of coordinate systems, projections, and map scales.
  • Capability to utilize, convert, and integrate various data types into GIS, including CAD, GPS, and database files.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages such as Visual Basic, Python, HTML, AML, EML, and ColdFusion.
  • Experience in systems automation, including UNIX scripts, NT batch scripts, and Linux scripts.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for systems and peripherals.
  • Ability to independently evaluate data anomalies, software issues, and design flaws, taking necessary actions to ensure project success.
  • Understanding of hardware and software limitations and strategies to work within those constraints.
  • Strong written communication skills to document results and project logs effectively.
  • Ability to maintain detailed metadata files regarding project data.
  • Proficiency in basic office automation tools, including MS Word and MS Excel.
