Job Purpose: As a Senior Data Analyst at Talent Pal, you will be a key member of our cross-functional team, working autonomously on technology development and problem resolution in the Enterprise Data & Analytics space. Your role will involve the analysis aspects of sourcing and transforming data to ensure it delivers on the insights required by our business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand business domains well (e.g. airline passenger pilot & crew aircraft HR Finance) and work with product owners and business users to understand operational source system data and business transformation/data cleansing rules required to ensure that analytical solutions generate the insights required by the business.
  • Conduct data gap analysis and data profiling to analyze the availability and quality of incoming data and advise on any data cleansing rules or issue resolution options in case of incidents.
  • Develop and maintain data documentation artifacts, including data dictionaries and business glossaries, and ensure that data exposed to business stakeholders satisfies their analytical needs.
  • Collaborate with quality engineers to identify areas that need to be validated and ensure that data solutions meet the analytical requirements and expectations.
  • Stay up-to-date on evolving business domains to accurately assess the quality of the data and ensure business glossaries remain up-to-date.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering with a preference for Data & Analytics specialization, plus 2 years of data analysis experience.
  • Minimum 2 years conducting data analysis tasks, including source system identification, data dictionary/metadata collection, data profiling, and sourcetotarget mapping.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining data documentation artifacts in organizations of similar size and complexity within project deadlines.
  • Deep expertise in business transformation rules and understanding of data solution designs.
  • Experience writing SQL queries to analyze data and provide results to business users or project team members.
  • Experience with building information designs for data-centric projects on one or more of the following: Data Warehouses, Big Data Environments for Analytics, Data API, Business Intelligence Solutions.

Key Technologies/Tools:

  • Big Data & Distributed Processing: Querying HDFS or ADLS file storage systems with tools such as Hive or HBase, ElasticSearch, Experience with AVRO / PARQUET file formats nice to have.
  • Data Analysis Modelling and Reporting: SQL, Snowflake, Data Vault 2.0, MicroStrategy, PowerBI.
