Position Summary:
We are looking for a Senior Operations Engineer to contribute to the Max Chemicals Division within the Business & Project Development Department. The role involves optimizing refinery chemical integration, selecting steam cracker and C4 coproducts process licensors, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. This position will facilitate project assessment and the fulfillment of project requirements, focusing on a refinery residue upgrade integrated with a petrochemical steam cracker complex.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and evaluate various technology options to establish the Baseline Configuration.
  • Determine the necessary level of detail and identify sources for technology input related to operating expenses and facility scope.
  • Develop the Process Technology roadmap and set timelines for engagement with technology licensors/providers.
  • Outline Pre-FEED/FEED plans and deliverables associated with facility design.
  • Lead the evaluation of technology options and manage the screening process.
  • Review details and inputs for technology options and outputs from the Long-Range Planning model, including process yields and operating expenses.
  • Provide technical insights on selected technologies and sensitivity analyses.
  • Identify opportunities for third-party collaboration.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors/suppliers to gather necessary information.
  • Support governmental engagement initiatives and greenhouse gas abatement readiness by developing technical documents and assessing technology efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Relocation Requirement: This position necessitates the candidate to permanently relocate.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing refinery chemical integration.
  • Hands-on experience in refinery operations.
  • Expertise in selecting process licensors and analyzing technologies for steam cracker and C4 coproducts.
  • Proficient understanding of chemical process yields, qualities, and operating expenses.
  • Familiarity with economic principles and capital efficiency in chemical processes.
  • Experience in developing the foundation for chemical facility scope.
  • Involvement in capital project development within the refinery or chemicals sector, particularly during Pre-FEED/FEED stages.
  • Understanding of molecule optimization and the integration of synergies in processes.
